B = house

Oil and mixed media on canvas, 30" x 40" – 2009

letters of the alphabet...

It was in Phoenicia that the Egyptian hieroglyphic image of 'house' was streamlined, down to a 'letter' which merely sounded the initial sound b of the Semitic word beth, 'house'.

Here is a useful table, from Number Words and Number Symbols by Karl Menninger

The development of alphabetical writing, from the Egyptian (column 1)through the Poenician (2) to the Hebrew (3), Greek (7), Latin (11) and Germanic (12) alphabets. The Greeks gave their letter numerical values(9), and the Hebrews (5) adopted a similar pattern. Column 13 shows the numerical values assigned to the Runic characters.

mem

Cement and mixed media on canvas, 40" x 40" – 2007

When tracing the origin of characters (letters of the alphabet) ~ things can get pretty interesting...
The Hebrew character 'mem', means 'water' ~ it is equivalent to our 'm' and has a numerical (energetic) value of 40.

On the subject of water ~ a word about homeopathy ~

A homeopathic remedy is made, by successively diluting (in water/alcholol) the original substance and shaking it (succussing) between each dilution. This is done until none of the original substance remains, only the energetic or vibrational property of the substance. Scientists have proposed the "memory of water" theory, whereby the structure of the water/alcohol solution is altered by the substance during the process of dilution and retains this structure even after none of the actual substance remains.

During a telephone consultation with my homeopath, she prescribed a remedy that I didn't have in the house. In this instance, the remedy was 'Berlin Wall'. She said to me 'write the words 'Berlin Wall' on a piece of paper and stand a glass of water on it for 5 mins ~ then drink the liquid'.

My own view is that water is like a liquid version of the computer chip ~ liquid crystal if you like, and it can be programmed.
Oh and another thing ~ strange coincidence that water holds the 'mem'-ory. (must drink some more)
